I am Fierce!
Once I was listening to Focus on the Family and they had a guest on who was speaking about marriage. He started talking about being married to a “fierce” woman. It was a compliment (he apparently had a fierce Mrs. himself) and I took it as one. He described me perfectly as he began talking about the kind of man you’d have to be to lead a woman well who was of the fierce variety. It was in those few moments that I realized how difficult I had made it for my sweet husband in the early years of our marriage before he knew what leading me looked like and the patience and unconditional love it took to push through until he did. He has loved me through some stuff and I ain’t easy. And even today as I have gone from one glory to the next in my walk with the Lord, I still know that with my deep passion comes this knee jerk reaction to go from zero to crazed in seconds flat with blinders to who I take with me. Yet I know God made me fierce. He put deep convictions within my spirit and gave me great discernment. I’m excitable. So yeah when I see a book (https://www.amazon.com/Strong-Brave-Loved-Ebook-Shorts-ebook/dp/B078JZ143D/ref=nodl_) with the word fierce in it by one of my favorite speakers/authors I’m gonna check it out. This one seems a little different and as is always the case with the God I seek to serve...oh so timely. You see when it comes to people and relationships I never want my fierceness to be a detriment. Recently the Lord has gently shown me how being fierce looks like humility and thinking of others as more important than myself. That is totally counter-cultural folks and the idea of being a strong woman in the 21st century doesn’t read like the upside down kingdom of God, where the first are last and the last are first and where I don’t have to prove my worth because my worth is in the one who created me. I rest in the knowledge that he will use every gift and bring to completion the good work He started in me. It’s a bumpy ride until that day, but He is so sweet as He refines and sharpens us and grows us each to be His image bearers. My reflection is fierce!
