The day God got me a smokin' deal on shoes
Something sparked inside my heart as I was hanging up the phone with my best friend yesterday and I heard her say with childlike delight "yaaayyy!" But it wasn't really to me, she was just declaring it out loud as she was getting off the phone, her pure delight that I was about to join her at the mall so that we could shop for mother of the bride and mother of the groom dresses, respectively. What a gift the Lord had given us that we could walk this season together. It wasn't a given, our kids weren't the same age exactly and by the worlds standards they were both far too young to be marrying, but here we were about to take Westroads by storm. Yes there was a lady in the dressing room between us. No we didn't care as we held entire conversations with each other about undergarments and sweating at the receptions. We talked and changed and met each other in front of the mirror like clockwork and had mock conversations with guests to go along with each dress, "Hi, my son is getting married so I thought I should dress like I'm 70", and my friend and I would laugh obnoxiously like teenage girls. Yes this was a gift.
We headed to VonMaur and I hoped to find a dress that I had already selected on a previous trip. My girlfriend pulled a dress from the clearance rack and there it was. Let's just cut to the chase here people. This dress that a month ago I was ready to fork over $190 for was now on sale for $44. (Do people put bug-eyed emoji's in blogs?) Now I'd like to say I ran right up to the cashier and we were on our way to a nice dinner but I'm me. So I continued to pick out dresses, I even picked one up from the full priced rack. (Don't worry I felt foolish later in the dressing room. Some people call it perspective. I call it losing my mind.).
Dress in hand we decided to hit the shoe dept. My girlfriend really needs to eat by this point so she's saying things like "shoes are too much here", "shop somewhere else", "if you really want to look we can but..." So we head to the clearance section which by the way is always an overwhelming experience for someone like me and generally induces my fight or flight response. That is to say my flight response. But something kept me calm and firmly planted in front of the size 7 section. I didn't have to suffer long before the perfect pair of open toed silver Naturlizer's appeared before me, on clearance for $17. What?!? I nearly fell to the floor in an act of worship right then and there. Not even kidding! Not only did they match the dress perfectly but they were Naturalizer's people! These old aching, gnarled, arthritic feet, wouldn't be able to withstand 12 hours of heels any other way. The Lord knew!
He cares about every tiny detail of our lives. That is what Scripture tells us. He knows the hairs on our head and tells us we are worth more than sparrows. But also you can see it from what happens in the things around you. We just aren't always quick to give God the glory. Your faith will grow when you start recognizing God in the big and maybe more so in the small things.
"The steps of a man are established by the Lord, when he delights in His way;"
-Psalm 37:23
What specific ways did the Lord show himself to you today? How were you blessed? What answer to prayer did you receive, whether it be yes or no?

This is wonderful! I truly believe this: "He cares about every tiny detail of our lives." Thanks for posting such an awesome story!
